From the time Bingo is a little cub, he wants to do two things....sing and fish. If he isn't fishing with his grandpa, he is dancing and singing around the house. Now Bingo is a very happy bear, but he feels he is missing one thing that would put him on cloud nine. Bingo wants a banjo. He wants to play while he dances and sings.One day, Bingo is fishing with his grandpa and he catches a tiny fish. This is no ordinary fish. It is a genie fish. A scared little genie fish that is so desperately tells Bingo that if he lets him go he will grant Bingo a wish. Bingo tells the tiny fish he wants a banjo so he can play and sing all day long. Knowing his wish would come true; Bingo gladly put the tiny fish back in the water.The weeks pass. Years pass, and still Bingo has no banjo. Even though grandpa is now in heaven and Bingo is so much older, he still sings and dances, but he cannot remember what it was he wished for.One day, while fishing and sending songs to his grandpa, Bingo catches a BIG fish--the genie fish. My 5 and 7 year old boys were captivated by this book. The 7 year old was able to read all of the words and create his own songs by varying the melody! Loved how this book can be used with a simple guitar to make it not only a great read but also a lot of interactive fun. In our musical family, every member has some type of string instrument so even the youngest tried to pick a tune on his little violin. From trying to make up the melodies for the songs to dancing around to enjoying the wonderful colorful pictures; my boys thought Bingo the Banjo Picking Bear was too cool for words!

Bingo is a young bear, with music in his soul, who believes that fish are like genies and will grant your wishes. Bingo's wish is to have a banjo so he can make up songs and sing them to his Grandpa. Will the fish grant his wish?This is a sweet little book, with beautifully done artwork, that will have just about any child making up their own tune to Bingo's words. I actually found myself doing just that.

My grandchildren were given a gift of three of Jay's books. Bingo the Banjo Picking Bear and Sal and Sally are two of them and they love having them read or reading them over and over again. The message is full of Christian themes and good over all family reading. I recommend Jay highly for anyone searching for good reading material for their young children. Even my teenage grandchildren love the stories and the bright artistic pictures in the books. Gerrin my four year old grandson passed away in August 2009. He is a beloved child. Bingo the Banjo pickin bear was his favorite book to be read and he love the bright cheerful pictures. Now his little brother Andrey likes having this story to him as does also is sister Halona. This is a fun, bright cheerful book for young children. You cannot go wrong with these books.

Bingo the Banjo Picking Bear is such a refreshing video and has great value affiliated with it for children. I chuckled my way through this little book. Amusing drawings highlight this tale as one bear finally gets his wish, a banjo to pick and strum with abandon. This story is reminiscent of the lion and the mouse, the small creature who was spared by the lion and repaid the favor with his own act of kindness. Absolutely delightful.
