Quiet with led MR16, dims very well
I'm reviewing the 40W model meant for LEDs. Absolutely had to have a dimmable model that didn't buzz or overheat when using with two pin reflector MR16. Using a Lutron 120V wall dimming switch. There are three 8 watt bulbs in this array. I am using Hyperikon 12 volt bulbs. Had an old magnetic transformer which worked all right but it did buzz especially at mid and low dim settings. Also I needed a transformer small enough to fit into the ceiling puck which is exposed on this light. For some reason many LED transformers are six to eight inches long which is ridiculous. Honestly it has taken me years to find a good solution for this particular installation. When the house is absolutely dead silent I can hear a very low hum from the lights. I'm pretty sensitive but I don't find it bothersome. The last transformer I had was far more noisy and I've heard others that are unbearably loud. This one is fine plus the fact that it dims very dim, probably dimmer than any other LED I've ever seen which typically only go down to about 40%. I would say these dim down to maybe 5%. I will only take off one star because the transformer is still too large. I had to hacksaw it down to fit into this 4-inch diameter puck. The metal enclosure seems to be intended to be surface wired and it actually has a conduit input hole. I wish they had a more compact bare model without the enclosure, that was meant to be wired inside an electrical box.

Get your crap together Hitlights!...(update) & they are getting it together!
September 14, 2018So, I just received this (40 watt transformer) today the 2nd magnetic transformer I've purchased from Hitlights, and this is the 2nd of 3 that have arrived in bent or broken condition, which means Hitlights is 2 for 2 for sending me questionable quality products. Judging on the rust and lack of spot weld on the tab, I'd say the quality is pointing more to being questionable than good. I love the performance quality I've been getting with a 150 watt transformer I have installed in my bedroom with almost no heat, zero sound or hum, and fantastic dimming performance. However, it too arrived with the tab nearly broken off. Either Hitlights is not doing a good job of making sure their products meet any kind of quality standard, or they are doing a terrible job of packaging their product. I'm starting to lean more towards IT'S A QUALITY ISSUE either way! Come on Hitlights! Get your crap together! I will still be able to mount the transformer by drilling holes through the back of the box clear of circuitry to screw it down. However, it's seriously annoying I will have had to modify one 2 out of 2 times to make it work only because I need the lighting right away and don't have the time to send it back and wait for a new one to arrive. On a side note, the only magnetic transformer I have received so far from Amazon without damage happens to be a LED Wholesalers brand 150 watt magnetic low voltage transformer, and the tab is significantly beefier than the last Hitlights 150 watt transformer I received, again pointing to quality problems. The funny thing is, I'm sure these transformers are made by the same manufacturer, possibly Magnitude, but that doesn't explain why one would have cut corners on quality, and the other require a beefier installation tab.I will report back as soon as I have it installed to update my review if the performance is better than the installation tab.update 23 Dec 2018So, after a while I figured out I couldn't use the transformer because of the mounting tab problem and was forced to purchase a different transformer, and it was too late to return the transformer to Amazon. However, I received an email from Merria @ HitLights wondering if she could resolve any of my issues and has since gone out of her way to resolve my problems I have had with their products. She was very keen on getting the transformer back to their lab to investigate if there are improvements they need to make to their products so that other customers will not share the same experiences I have had. She worked to get me a complete refund and paid for the transformer to be shipped to their lab for the investigation. For that very reason I do believe that HitLights is in-fact a good company, doing their best to get products out there that are exactly what the customer wants and needs. They are genuinely concerned about customer satisfaction, which is tied directly to their reputation. I can't give it a full 5 stars only because I was unable to use this transformer; however, because they did what they could to resolve my situation, I give them 4 out of 5. I am completely happy with the other 150 watt transformer I purchased from HitLights prior to the 40 watt purchase as it is working fantastically. I will definitely consider purchasing from them in the future because of there demonstration of insuring product satisfaction and desire to improve their product. Thanks HitLights!

Works great!
Used this paired with Hitlights SMD3528 LED light strip, and a Lutron Dimming Occ sensor. They look great, work great, dim beautifully! I would recommend!

Works great, easy to install
I recently picked up one of these to run our under-counter LED strips. The main reason I got this model was because it supports dimming directly from an AC wall switch instead of requiring a custom DC dimmer like most other transformers. On that front, it works perfectly! I have it hooked up to a Leviton LED dimmer and it works perfectly. As far as the installation goes, this was very simple. It has 5 wires: 3 for the AC power (standard black, white, and green for ground), and 2 for the LED light strip. It's setup so all the wiring connections can be made inside the Hitlights box instead of requiring an additional box to hide connections. Getting it wired really only took a few minutes.Although this works perfectly, I do have a one complaint:The box is supported at the top by 2 screw holes. That's great for vertical hanging; but, since I wanted to hang it horizontally under the cabinet, I had to drill an additional hole inside the box so it wouldn't droop. On top of that, there are some dimples on the back of the box that make it impossible to mount it 100% flush. There is about 1/8" gap at the bottom because of those dimples. I guess I could have cut them off; but, it seemed like too big of a hassle...Overall, I would highly recommend this if you're looking to add dimmable under-counter LED lighting. It seems odd that there are so few products out there that support dimming from a wall switch.
