Of course we didn't do any destructive chip testing to see if it is surface-dyed howlite (under surface color would be white/other color inside). Beyond Howlite, imitation non-mineral Turquoise can be made of plastics, ceramics, and glass, and can appear quite authentic.Detailed appearance notes - Upon close inspection, the piece we received has typical asymmetric veining, and under bright sunlight, some very tiny flecks of white mineral that could also be typical of some specimens of natural Turquoise gemstones. The stone even had what appears to be a tiny random node of copper embedded in it which again, could again, readily be present with some specimens and forms of natural Turquoise gemstone.

I bought this as a one time use. It was part of my Turd Ferguson costume for Halloween. I was impressed more than I expected with the quality. The cords took a while to straighten out from the packaging. But hanging it from my rear view mirror for a couple of weeks leading up to Halloween helped out. So if you want to buy it and wear immediately, you might want to figure out a faster way to straighten out the cords. Other than that, it was a pretty nice bolo. It has hung from a gargoyle statue since Halloween. He's a pretty damn sharp looking gargoyle now.

This bolo is awesome. I wear it with a white Oxford shirt and a black suit. I feel like I’m dancing with Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction when I sport it.

I got this for a gala at work. I got lots of compliments. I didn’t feel like I was appropriating a cultural design, and that it’s generic enough for a Texan bolo. The cord is plastic feeling, but is easily replaced. The lock on the back is fantastic to prevent sliding. Really comfortable, didn’t see any glue.

Fell apart one week after receiving. Leather braids fall apart on all bollos. Cheap. Stone nice but can’t wear it without tie itself. Never purchase this piece of junk. Retailer won’t respond. Stuck with junk. Out my money. Never purchase this item. Cheap useless.

This is cheap junk, it's not leather: it's plastic.But what really annoyed me is that it has "USA" stamped on the back and all the packaging says "China".If you're getting it for a costume, fine.But this is not for fancy dress, it looks cheap because it is cheap.

I bought this tie for my dad because he has been wanting a turquoise bolo tie but the legitimate ones go for about $200. I did some research and after reading the reviews for this one it seemed like a good one to try. It looks great and my dad loves it but the only thing that he dislikes is that the straps are skinny and if it stays folded the straps will stay bent and it will take a long time for them to straighten out.

Got this for my Pulp Fiction costume, and it got here right in the nick of time. Really made my costume come together. The one flaw is that the cords came a little bent and it was hard to straighten them out. They just don't have any real weight to them. But for the price and my needs it worked out fine. But if you are needing this for anything serious.. I would just get something handmade and expensive.

The fastening mechanism is loose, the tie keeps dropping.
