...the deaf guy's not gonna listen to you...
22.2.231957pmWillow Creek - via freevee...another found footage extravaganza, me thought. and i think that template for a good old thriller has been done to death...your film, sir, induced a mass of jungle drums ie: folk went out of their way to start banging on their garbage bins after the film's cessation. ahahaha... about as thrilling as it got!! about as thrilling as they are...the basic set-up, seemingly, being two guys with a cinematic notion to relay - who then were left to bon chance and the dictates of a director hellbent on scaring the shit outta them... within which scenario were interwoven a few genuine pieces of anecdotal evidence amidst a barrage of actors - relaying bits n bats of hearsay... i mean, stop me if that's not the case...it wasn't a bad film for all that and the camp scene was far more awe inspiring and frightening than the blair witch project could ever hope to muster.yeah; if you recall your Patterson–Gimlin footage which began these tall tales of wild men of the woods and the various films Willow creek tried to emulate and surpass - then i have certainly seen worse movies.the legend of boggy creek has probably been overhauled, here. though the aforementioned film was a genuine stab at quote serious unquote documentary filmmaking which took it's subject matter to be far more palpable than a few sticks being thrown at trees or rocks at tents... - Regards JPS

It's okay - low budget Blair Witch with Bigfoot
I thought it was okay but a little thin. As a low budget horror movie, like a student film almost, it's fine. It's a nice idea to put interviews with real people in there, really charming but then the rest of it is quite different in tone so it's a bit jarring. In the end it becomes heavily reliant on the two lead actors who do a decent job but it's still not a particularly believable relationship between the two of them and neither of them were really that charming as characters. The woman in particular, who was expected to bring a lot of the emotion and tension, sometimes looked like she was on the brink of laughing. So you went from real people who were interesting characters to the actors who were a bit dull and not particularly compelling. It wasn't awful, it was okay. A nice idea but needed filling out a bit and with characters who played it a bit more real with more humour and charm.

Not many things have me feeling as intense as this movie.
So, This is your typical "Found Footage" movie, only it's not. I know there's a ton of them these days. This movie starts out like any other, And while I wholeheartedly will not spoil anything in this movie I will mention that when I first watched this it was 4am, I had headphones on and all lights off. About half way through the movie onwards (the ending was a little naff) it had me on the edge of my seat, so much so that I pasued it after a while and woke my partner up to tell her. That unfortunately entailed two horrific things to be in the same room watching. I'm trying to listen to every small tree branch snap, "Hooot!Hooot!'s" and have a very grumpy girlfriend looking at me like I'm a complete nutter.I struggle to find movies that scare me, or give me a feeling of dread. With all jokes aside this movie did leave me feeling intensified and on edge at parts of the movie (specifically parts I won't spoil) it has it's own unique take on being afraid of the unknown because, in fact we actually know what the unknown is.or do we?Watch it!

Better than I was expecting.
A young couple head off to the sunny California and the home of the bigfoot legend, to film a YouTube documentary about the creature. What could possibly go wrong?I'd ummed and aahed about renting this (despite being so cheap on AIV), due to all the negative reviews. After been bitten by the bigfoot bug, though, through watching the atmospheric "Exists" (and having already exhausted all the other found footage horrors--as well as many of the documentaries available on YT), I decided to give it a try and I'm glad that I did.Perhaps it's as I had such low expectations, but I thought it was really good and fairly original (at least compared to similar movies). Firstly the two characters are actually likeable. They're not moody or sulky, just out in Bigfoot country telling jokes and having a laugh and they seem to have a genuine chemistry between them. They just seem normal and don't overact like a lot do in this genre.Secondly the setting is perfect for this type of film. It's filmed on location in Willow Creek (home of the original Patterson footage, the giant (redwood?) trees and sunlit locations are a refreshing change to the dreary Blair Witch type backwoods locales and it adds stacks to the bigfoot atmosphere.People are complaining because of the tent scene (around 20 minutes where the camera doesn't move and it's just the characters hearing noises and jumping). Whilst the previous sentence is completely true, this is by no means two people simply saying "What was that noise?". I thought it was excellently acted and directed (a masterclass in tension building) and had me totally on the edge of my seat (biting my fingernails by the end!). I won't give anything away, but it is very realistic, unnerving and quite chilling. It has been a very long time since a film managed to captivate me totally for such a length of time. Make sure you turn the sound up at this point, you will experience everything the characters do!It does have a slightly iffy ending, but I was just happy to enjoy it for what it was. As well as the tent scene there are also excellent sound effects later (and you do feel they are out there with a very large and dangerous animal, even if you don't really see it--possibly much scarier than if you do). It's by no means perfect, but it's highly atmospheric, well-acted and shot and is definitely worth watching if you like this sort of thing.
