Q: Is this an edible treat?

It is made of some magical light-refracting plastic. While I have not licked or tasted mine in any way I would suspect it's probably not digestible even if you somehow did manage to eat it. I'll go with no, it's not intended as an edible treat but it sure is pretty to hang in the window.

Q: Will this work in a window with only indirect sunlight?

It will look nice but it will not project diffracted colored light on your walls. Needs to be in direct sunlight to do that!!

Q: Can you hang this on your rear view mirror and get good results?

Personally I wouldn't do that. Because of the diameter of the disc might obstruct your view and rainbows are bright enough to blind you in a car. I would opt for a small lead crystal in the car and save the awesome suncatchers rainbows for home.
