I used it with my RETRON HD and it worked Great!
Awesome controller, this is a great thing to have. This will breath new life into your old NES games. I used it with my RETRON HD and it worked great. The only complaint I have is that the port seems to be super loose when you plug it in, a quick movement will cause it to be removed from the slot, however, this is a blessing when you have 5 kids walking around it keeps your system from being jerked around. The buttons and the D pad feel really tight. You just feel good using this controller. I have not used it with the computer so I can't give any review in regards to how it works with a PC, but as far as a Nintendo controller it is the best and only way to go.

Interesting, but not a must have.
I've used the controller on the original NES and on an emulator using a raspberry pi. The buttons feel great, and build quality is top notch. The D-pad is a little stiff compared to original NES controllers but it does the job. The real kicker here is the analog stick. It works great as an 8 way stick and immediately made Tecmo Bowl easier to play. I highly recommend it for any game that uses diagonal movement frequently. However, that is its only real benefit. Works great with any emulator it's just plug and play. Another problem I ran into was for some reason on the NES it just would not work with certain games, the most notable being Legend of Zelda. If you can get it for less than $20 and play lots of NES games I'd say buy it. Otherwise, it's a pass. Needs more face buttons for emulators.

Great controller with some serious problems
UPDATE 4: No replacement. They're claiming that the factory has nothing for them and they have no "updated" samples stateside. I'm taking the refund that they offered. They did offer me an adapter for the NES Classic, but I'm turning that down considering I don't have a classic like most people. I want to like this controller, but failing to work with flagship titles is just not passable on any level. Final update as of June 27th, 2017.UPDATE 3: I've gotten an apology, apparently I was sent a "wrong unit." They've offered another replacement straight from the factory that won't ship until it has re-opened after it's break for Chinese New Year. This is currently the last chance I am giving. If I don't get the replacement or I'm not happy with the new one, I am formally done with the product and this review will remain in its current state.UPDATE 2: I got my replacement and it was basically worse. Not only did it have the same issue, but it was missing screws and stickers along with just looking beat up. I've contacted Retro Fighters about this, but at this rate I really doubt that this review will improve.UPDATE 1: Retro Fighters has gotten back to me and offered a replacement. I have taken them up on the offer and will update after the replacement arrives. I was told that they didn't receive my first email.ORIGINAL REVIEW:The controller itself is great for the most part, comfortable with good buttons and all that, but it has one specific issue. For whatever reason, there is a significant input lag specifically when playing "The Legend of Zelda" and "Tetris 2 + Bombliss." In other words, I have to hold buttons in order for anything to happen and even then it's a good second or two before any response. These games have no issues with any controller other than this one and it was tested on different consoles with the exact same results. I've also tested at least thirty other games where the controller works well, including stuff like Hebereke and Action 52. This controller also does not behave as intended in the official NES controller test, so I don't think this controller fully meets the required specifications.Select incompatibility would normally just one or two stars off, but the main problem is the manufacturer itself. I have reached out to them about this issue via email and Facebook and have yet to get any reply within at least two business days. If they do reply and properly address this issue then I will update this review to reflect that, but in its current state I can't recommend this controller. Being incompatible with a title as important as "The Legend of Zelda" is not good and not getting help for such an issue is even worse.

A must own for retro enthusiasts
I am pleasantly surprised with this controller. It has the modern controller shape we all can appreciate, a mix between the Xbox One and Ps4 controller. It is very comfortable to use for extended play, while the standard new controller I usually can't stand to play more than 2 hours at a time with. The extra B and A buttons on the shoulders is also very handy, both for reasonable games that have you constantly hit the b button to shoot allow you to give your fingers and wrist on the right hand a little break. Also the triggers worked great for racing games like Rad racer, combining those with the left analog stick helped me do the best I've done in a long while. The d-pad is pretty good, hard to say if it's better than the nes one as far as responsiveness, but is very comfortable and doesn't cause stress to your thumb. The analog stick is also great as well, functions very well for subtle movements in shmup games, wish I had marble madness to try that. I do have one complaint which extends to the turbo function. It doesn't seem to consistently work, it seems you have to press it several times for it to work. As long as turbo isn't essential to you though, this controller is a 5 star. I marked it a 4 due to this issue though. That said, this has essentially replaced my original nes and dogbone controllers.

Great design and great build!
The Retro Fighters NES controller feels great! It’s basically a modern take on the old NES controller, it gives you so many different button configurations and adapts to my style of play and to the game I am playing. When I took it out of the box, I noticed right away that it had a nice weight to it and was really comfortable to hold and use. I really liked the realigning of the main B & A buttons, its a very ergonomic placement, this makes it easy to switch between each button. The controller color scheme reminds me of the NES system, which was cool. The D-pad is very comfortable and I didn’t experience any lag or response issues with any of the buttons or d-pad. The Analog sticks are actually very accurate and I found myself using them more than I would the d-pad, very comfortable and they are very precise. Overall I think its a great controller and would definitely recommend it if you like the feel of modern controllers and want to play some of your classic NES games in a new way.
