Nine Women, One Dress: A Novel

This is the perfect book for a cold winter afternoon on the sofa with hot chocolate or a winter's evening before the fire with a glass of wine. It's about one dress and the nine different women who wear it. Each chapter is a different snippet of one of the nine women's stories. The chapters are short enough that one does not get confused. I loved the book, could not put it down, and finished it within 24 hours. Each of the stories is wrapped up by the end. It's one of those books that I'm going to keep downloaded on my Kindle for the next time I'm stuck on a delayed plane, sitting waiting for a tire to be repaired (as I was today), or just needing something fun and non-challenging to read.

Like many reviewers, I couldn't put this book down. The setting is contemporary, but the message is timeless. Written well without the detracting (often) misspelled words and grammar issues of many first editions. Well paced and would be interesting to a wide variety of readers. Some especially wonderful things about this book to me included the way it highlights the value of well crafted things, the value of art, the value of WOMEN - and the part that serendipity plays in all human ventures. More please!

This was the most fun I've had reading in a long time. I loved the way the author took the theme of the little black dress and wove it through the lives of all the characters. I found myself cheering for each couple whose lives were forever changed by a dress. The author uses easy to read language to describe each character in the book. For a change it is nice to read something where everyone seems to live happily ever after.

I'm still sniffling and smiling after having finished this lovely NYC take on a sisterhood of the travelling pants type scenario, all connected by a helpful and sometimes impish Bloomies staff. I love how one simple, but designed, and patterned with love, dress, flows in and out of and touches so many different lives. I laughed,cried, was outraged on other's behalf, and cheered on the good ones (and maybe cheered a little for those receiving their just desserts too;))

Listened to the book on audio from the library and liked it so much I purchased the book as a gift for my dad who is retired. He used to own a fine women's clothing store and went to NY on buying trips while I was growing up. Many of the stories in the book, he can relate to and is really enjoying it.

Super cute story (stories) about "the dress" and how it transforms many lives. To paraphrase a quote from the book, "the right dress can make a middle aged woman feel young, and a young girl feel like a woman. The right dress can be magical." This is a delightful novel and while it is comprised of several different stories, they all intersect at Bloomingdales and revolve, obviously, around the perfect LBD. Great fun! Highly recommend..

I only had a few minutes with Wi-Fi to choose and download a book. I remembered the review this book received in People magazine so l hurriedly purchased it without reading the reader reviews like I usually do. I'm so glad I made that choice. This story is so creatively told, the plot believable and interesting, the characters likeable. It's really a series of cleverly intertwined short stories. I hope Ms. Rosen writes a sequel...I would like to know how the rest of their lives turned out.

I have so many great reads stuck in my Kindle begging to be read for quite awhile. This was one of them.This author wrote something brilliant with something most women search a lifetime to find, "that little black dress." To see some of the characters evolve with the help of this dress that has it's own great background of how it came in existence is fashion at it's best. The supporting characters were awesome that everyone should find one thats relatable to them. The writing was beautiful and not over the top but flowing wonderfully to deliver the message of this book.I would recommend this book. It's not hopped up on the fashion scene it's about love and keeping love forever.

Such a great, optimistic and energetic novel! Loved it from start to finish!

Some of the characters were a little hard to follow at times but it was a quick enjoyable read. Beach read for sure.
