Berberine is effective for regular bm's, and it worked for me.

I just started taking these last week so can't say how it will or won't increase the brown fat cell productivity, but at least at this time I can say that there is no after taste/belching up, nor does it have any effect on my tummy when taken on an empty stomach with just water as instructed. Because my adrenal fatigue hampers my body's digestive processes and too low brown adipose tissue (BAT)/brown fat cells which which helps the body consume the fat stored in our white fat cells, I gain weight. This supplement contains 3 of the compounds recommended by my Physician: Flavonoids (quercetin), Stlbenes (resveratrol), and Alkaloids (berberine) although not at the recommended levels so am taking this 2x/day - first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I took all of my weight and body measurements and will see how things stand in 3-6 months because that is the time frame that will most likely reveal any effects. But on taste and stomach effects I will continue to use this until then.
