Great device, works as expected
I installed this last month in a Honda Passport 2024. Install was simple (pair device to bluetooth on phone). I find after a few seconds after starting the car the CarPlay connects seamlessly. I had a few connection hiccups but realized it was a lose connection of the Honda USB port to the cable connecting the device to the car. If you are going to use this, be sure you can place it somewhere where the cable will not get hit (i.e. don't try to throw car fobs or sunglasses on top of it ... it might jar the device). Even if you do jar it ... the connection always seems to come back. Overall very pleased. No lag that I can see ... use it for music and navigation.

BEWARE SELLER WILL HARASS YOU. Worked great at the beginning…
Edit 1/27/23: second message asking me to download a sketch file and asking me to email them outside of the amassing messaging system. I contacted amazon and was given a full refund through them. Purchased a different brand which worked better out of the box that this paperweight ever did. I’ll be reporting every single spammy harassing message I get from this company to Amazon, and if they keep messaging I’ll contact Amazon again and file a full harassment compliant.Edit 1/25/23: Seller sent me a message offering a full refund which I accepted. Next message? “Download this strange file then send us your email so we can update your unit” after I clearly wrote here that I flashed new firmware and it works as long as I don’t hit any bumps. Talk about a bait and switch - and asking for a purchasers email address? Nope. This company is a scam. Beware.Purchased last March (2022), and it worked great until about July when it started disconnecting from the phone for what appeared no reason. I unplugged it and went back to plugging in my phone directly because I was too busy at the time to try to figure out the problem.Recently I decided to give it another go. I plugged the unit back in to my 2021 Mazda cx-5, installed a firmware upgrade, and it reconnected to my phone right away. I figured I was back in business.I live in the northeast. It’s winter. There are many, many potholes. Potholes you can lose a car in. I hit a pothole and bam, CarPlay disconnected. “Bluetooth item not found” came up on the screen…then the screen showed the Bluetooth name for the unit, and then my phone reconnected. Okay…maybe a one-off…Nope. At this point, you whisper the wrong way and it disconnects. It’s not the wiring in the car, either. I’ve swapped back to the iPhone cord and no problems. Go back to wireless with this thing and it disconnects constantly. I guess it was great for the four or so months before whatever connection inside it decided it wasn’t going to stay stable.

A must have for wired Apple CarPlay users
I bought this because my Mazda CX5 while being a nice vehicle only has wired Apple CarPlay. I had to dig my phone out, connect it up, then switch over to it. It wasn't difficult, just a hassle. I received my OTTOCAST carplay adapter today and it literally took a matter of a minute to set it up. It could not have been easier. Now that it is, it connects seconds after starting the car. The audio quality is perfect, as is the functionality of the CarPlay. Other than plugging it in and pairing it with the phone, there is no setup. Not only that but it is tiny. I have mine inside my center console, so it's completely hidden. Bottom line, I could not be more pleased. It's a great product.

Few issues, but overall bad and very worth it.
I did weeks of research before settling on this item over others that claim to be better or similar items that varied on prices from $55 to $115+Pros: I’ve had it for maybe a week. It paired and connected right away as advertised. It connects pretty fast. I can use my Waze or other gps apps with no issue. That’s the main reason I got it. I travel a lot and don’t like over charging my phone to use Apple CarPlay. So it works great for that.It also works well with Spotify, Music and SoundCloud. Youtube is ok as well but I’ll go over the cons with this below.Con’s: YouTube is fine, but there will be maybe a few second delay with the audio and video. Not a deal breaker since you should be driving anyway and not focusing as much on the video.Like wired CarPlay, this also disconnects and glitches out once in a blue. A few times I couldn’t hear audio from music apps. That’s the annoying part especially while driving.Troubleshooting: Sometimes it takes a bit to connect. Sometimes unplugging and plugging back in does the trick. Other times restarting the car or disconnecting and reconnecting Bluetooth button on the phone will get it to work. It normally is fine for a few days before it glitches.Final Thoughts: I’d say it’s worth it especially if you get it for in the $60’s or less. I’m happy with it. You get the same disconnect issues with a cord, but at the end of the day, there’s no cord. No over charging and dealing with faulty cables. You only need a cable if you want to fast charge the phone in the car and unplug when you’re done without losing CarPlay features. If you have a wireless charger, you still have that. I doubt any of the more expensive versions do much better than this for the price. I wouldn’t pay over $70 for this but it’s definitely a good tool and I’m overall pleased. Would definitely recommend.I give it 4/5 stars bc it works well enough for me with the price and once you’ve gotten troubleshooting down, it’s not that big of a deal when you get the glitches or disconnects.

Works well but not for what i payed.
Works OK. There are a few times it will not connect. I need to unplug it and plug it back in. It takes 15-30 sec to start working once i put my car on. The most annoying thing is if i am watching a video there is a 1-2 sec delay with the sound. That drives me up the wall. Only watch videos while i am parked and waiting for someone so not a all the time thing but dam anoying.
