Excellent DVD player, easy to use, remote is small but functional

Perfect-no complaints!
Arrived quick, box and packaging was a little damaged but packed well and no damage to the product. Set up was easy, lots of buttons on remote but not difficult. Plays my Wentworth discs no problem-changed the subtitles from Chinese to English-easy. A little pricy but glad I got it. A good purchase so far.I Would recommend.

Small and compact!
Was surprised at how small these gadgets are anymore. Wasn't expecting such a little contained disk-driver for television. Pleasant surprise, tough! Used to the big, large heavy appliances. I like the compact look and it works exceedingly well. The set-up was amazingly swift. That really surprised me. I am used to complicated, poorly written instructions which leave you totally puzzled or having to spend hours to get something to work. Recommend it.

it does the job (pending).
I've been able to play DVDs from regions 1 (US), 2 (Europe), and 4 (Latin America). All of them worked fine. So it's a multi region DVD player.I also played Blue Ray discs from region A (America) only and no problems. I'm waiting for a Region B disc (Europe) in order to give it a a 100% as a multi region Blue Ray disc player. That's the final test. The only little problem is that you need to literally point the remote control to the player directly. If you don't, it doesn't always catch what button you're pressing. It's not like other remote controls where it doesn't matter where you point it to, the device always catches the signal. I don't know if this a player or remote control related issue.I dunno if I can edit this evaluation but if I can, I hope it can play that region B disc. I bought this player for that disc in particular.

Great compact multi-region player
Very slim, compact unit. Does everything it says it does. DVD playback is region-free (R0) meaning just insert any DVD from around the world and it plays automatically. Blu-Ray playback is multi-region meaning you need to manually set the region, but this is extremely simple to do, just the press of one button after powering on the unit. (My previous Seiki multi-region Blu-Ray Player required a 'secret code' to be entered to change zones, but thankfully not so with this Sony model - this is so much quicker to do.) Haven't noticed any problems with any DVD or Blu-Ray source as yet and I have a huge library of DVDs and Blu-Rays from around the globe. Great picture too. The unit seems solid enough for it's price range and, as it's a Sony, I'd expect it to last a while. If you want to connect it to the internet, you'll need to attach a cable, as this unit doesn't have Wi-Fi built-in (you'll have to upgrade to the next model up to get that). One last thing to note is that the only video output is HDMI, and the only sound output is also through HDMI or via co-ax. There are none of the 'ye olde fashioned standard A/V outputs' such as S-Video, component, composite or even plain old stereo jacks. So this will only work on displays and A/V receivers equipped with HDMI or co-ax. That's about the only down side I can see though and I'm sure there aren't that many customers who would care about that these days anyway. For the price, it's absolutely great.

half of what it could have been...maybe
It says region free in the description. Yet, you cannot select English as the language for dvd's(haven't tried blue ray). Seems like a very old player from the picture quality(it came new in the package). The controls are pretty bad. I would never recommend this product. The most expensive pile of trash I have bought. The $35 generic china one works better. I had high hopes for this.
