ThunderShirt for Dogs, X Large, Heather Gray Classic - Dog Anxiety Relief Calming Vest

I have a large dog who gets very stressed with fireworks, lightning and thunder. Somebody told me about this anxiety jacket and, after reading reviews, I was skeptical (too good to be true!) but for the possible cost/benefit, I decided to try it.It is not the final, definitive solution, my dog still has problems but it DEFINITELY reduces his anxiety level; I rarely now have to keep him on a leash when there is some thunder. The jacket fits well (bought a large for a 70 pound dog) and allows him to get through most of the thunderstorm season without trying to find a place to hide (very bad deal when it was through the closet doors).Like I said, excellent cost/benefit.

UPDATE: I bought the XL per the measurements suggestion and at first it was okay, a little big but still snug due to the ability to adjust it, however after a couple weeks it is super stretched out. Every time we put it on our dog it's a little looser. It just hangs on her. She doesn't try to get it off or do anything that would cause this and we haven't washed it... It does work really well though so I'm ordering the size down. Just wanted to note that it does stretch out a lot! But $90 into it is better than having another disaster in the house from her freaking out...*Original Review*I was super skeptical about this working... I have a geriatric pibble that is afraid of everything, ESPECIALLY thunderstorms! So scared, that she becomes destructive... We just moved to a new state and the last thunderstorm we had before purchasing this little gem of a solution, she got under the toilet and broke the water pipe in a spot where you can't just shut it off... flooding ensued! It was a disaster and we needed an immediate solution as our new home has frequent severe thunderstorms... I searched the interwebs and found this thunder shirt with amazing reviews from people with dogs just like mine... so I said "OK! I'll try it!" and it's amazing. Normally she doesn't like to wear shirts more than a little while before she's trying to get them off, but this... she LOVES! She doesn't want to take it off... and when it is off, she's bugging to put it back on. First storm after getting it, she went to her safe place and went to sleep. But it's not just for thunder! For the first time in her life, I was able to cut her toenails without her freaking out and having to go to the vet to have them do it! I'M A BELIEVER! If you are on the fence about this product, don't be, just buy it! :) It doesn't take away all the anxiety but thanks to this, my little girl doesn't shake uncontrollably and go on a destructive rampage through the house! She just goes to her safe place or lays down by us. She's 65lbs with a pretty large chest, so I bought the XL based on the measurement suggestions from the manufacturer and it's a little big so there is a little overhang of material but she doesn't care... it still fits snuggly thanks to being adjustable and works like a charm!

After measuring my dog using the instructions, I ordered a large which should have fit my dog in the middle. Didn't open the shirt for some time and, when I finally did, it was almost too big to fit him (and no he didn't lose weight). We have to take it off for him to go to the bathroom which makes it a little worthless. Turns out, it doesn't really work for him anyway.

So my 110lb Doberman is a complete wimp when it comes to thunder, a slight breeze or any in-climate weather in comes his handy dandy thunder shirt! Easy to put on a giant shaking dog, hold up well with rain and snow and easy to clean. My big guy puts up a fight everytime I have to take it off him to throw in the wash but once it’s back on he’s happy as can be. I noticed when it’s fireworks time it keeps his trembling to a minimum but doesn’t lead to overheating. This is my second purchase the first one my sister stole for her dog but it’s still holding up fine. Would absolutely purchase again!

We’ve purchased two of these over the years. A small for a 40 pound English Setter, a medium for a 70 pound lanky golden retriever. Recently, we have been making 200 mile trips with a 65 pound golden doodle, and after 5 years of road trips, she developed a fear of riding in the car. Dont ask me why she traveled fine for 5 years and now gets anxious, it’s beyond me and my vet! We thought it might be car sickness, so the vet prescribed Dramamine and it made no difference. She doesn’t seem sick, so the vet is assuming anxiety. I bought an XL because of her weight and she’s a stocky girl. It was WAY too big. Too long and could almost wrap around her twice. We had the same sizing issues when we bought the first two shirts, as it took two tries on each to get it right. After days of rooting around in the closets, we found the medium that we had purchased years ago for the golden retriever. Lo and behold it fits, so we gave the XL to a friend to try on their Bernese Mountain Dog who is afraid of storms. The sizing charts are way off, so good luck! Id recommend taking your furry family member to a pet store and trying it on. As far as efficacy, it helps my little setter calm a little during thunderstorms, but does not completely eliminate the symptoms. It did little for the skinny Golden Retriever. I’ll update as soon as I see what difference, if any it makes in the doodle while traveling.

Was sceptical at first about this but it does work! Has calmed my dog right down!My dog Bluebell is a staffie X lab and she is very noise reactive. She is a rescue from Battersea and she wasn’t trained as a puppy and 2nd owners mistreated her so she reacts to lots of noises. Even if it’s a movie on tv with fighting or shooting. She is most reactive to fireworks. This has been working since received on 4th November and I'm going to try it again tonight (5th). Lots of fireworks go off as neighbours are disrespectful and let them off till early hours (they are youths and don’t care /think it’s funny to scare animals). I hope it works tonight too! Good quality and fast delivery (next day) better to pay more to get better quality as cheap ones are not as good. Now the company just needs to make itty bitty ones for bearded dragons lol (joke! Oreo doesn’t seem to mind the noise!)

Avevo problemi con il mio cucciolo in macchina, ogni volta vomito e diarrea, da quando la indossa magicamente non succede più! La consiglio vivamente a chiunque, non essendo nulla di chimico da dare per bocca è sicuramente la scelta migliore e anche la più funzionale!

This product works! At the first sign of a thunderstorm or whenever there is a fireworks display nearby (ofte) I put the Thundershirt on my German Shepherd and instead of pacing all around the house and following us everywhere, she lays down in the lounge room and goes to sleep. Amazing.

Excelente producto, mi perra se pone muy mal con los cuentes y fuegos artificiales, no deja de temblar y se sofoca, desde que le puse el chaleco dejo de hacer eso, obvio se pone alerta por el ruido pero ya no se angustia, no se que pasa pero la mayoría de las veces que se lo puse se acuesta y se duerme

Questo Thundershirt è molto valido. Ho saputo di questo prodotto tramite mia sorella che abita in Scozia. la mia flat-coated retriever soffre di epilisia e mia sorella mi ha consigliato di provare la Thundershirt che aiuta problemi di ansia, paura di temporali etc., e calma l'animale. Ha funzionato benissimo e consiglia chiunque abbia questo tipo di problema con loro amici a quattro zampe di provarlo. Ottimo aquisto. Grazie
