Q: Do you spray this directly on the surface?

Yes...I've sprayed it on multiple surfaces in my garage...also in back of a closet where pet food is stored....and at the base of a 'frig in my garage...repels & I've seen no damage to surfaces....can't comment on wood,painted or delicate surfaces

Q: Is it truly pet friendly???

Yes, this prdct is pet safe. My dog was not bothered by this product at all but the mice and chipmunks that had gotten into my garage disappeared because of the smell. We were very satisfied with this product .

Q: Can this product be used under the hood of a car? Cars typically run hotter than 80F and label says the product shouldn't be stored in temps above 80F

I have been using this spray for several years. I lift the hood and let the engine cool down before I apply the spray. I spray about every three weeks. I have had pretty positive results.

Q: How often should you use this spray in a city apartment?

This is my 3rd month with the pouches and I have not seen anything! I haven't even used the spray as of yet. But it being the 3rd month, I will refresh the pouches for good measure. The best I have used to this day.
