It not letting me carnet to the laptop all so I won't tell anyone to buy

Cheap, but you get what you pay for.
I had a number of old recordable DVDs and CDs I wanted to rip to digital files.This drive only worked on about half of them and wouldn’t read the others.Sent it back and bought a more expensive, branded drive and it read every one.
